Chicago: A City Of Diversity & Great Attractions

A visit to Chicago leaves you spellbound. Like all other metropolitan cities of North America such as Los Angeles and New York, Chicago also has a truly cosmopolitan nature. This is evident by the number of people from all over the world who have made this lovely city their home.

It's this wide diversity of people that gives Chicago its wide variety of culture and arts. No where else in America can you find the jazz and blues that permeates this city. This combination of culture and diversity also creates a culinary circle in the city that leaves nothing to the imagination. With so much going for it, you'll want to make sure that you include Chicago on your list of cities to visit.

Chicago has many attractions you shouldn't miss. One example is the Art Institute of Chicago. You can get lost for hours looking at art and sculpture from the last 5000 years. The Art Institute hosts a huge collection of postimpressionist and impressionist paintings. Make sure you have your picture taken by the local landmark lions outside museum.

The Lincoln Park area is the perfect end to a busy morning of sightseeing. This lively neighborhood is full both day and night of people walking, running, cycling, rollerblading, and strolling along the busy streets. Lincoln Park is also the home of the notorious Biograph Theater, the location where the FBI shot John Dillinger in 1934.

Other attractions in this neighborhood include the Lincoln Zoo, which is free to the public. Visit with the gorillas and chimpanzees before checking out the more uncommon animals, such as the Galapagos turtle and poisonous spiders from around the world. A big hit at this zoo is when the chimpanzees come out to draw for you. Some of the art created by the chimpanzees has been sold around the world.

After visiting Lincoln Park you can take a walk along the Magnificent Mile, which is an avenue that leads from Lincoln Park all the way to the Chicago River. This stretch of road is great for those shopping enthusiasts who love a bargain or a boutique. The Tribune Tower is found along the Magnificent Mile and warrants a look. The tower was built in 1925 and its gothic beauty is still astounding even today. The base of the Tribune is embedded with rocks obtained by newspaper reporters from around the world.

Besides the zoo, Chicago also boasts of one of the earliest aquariums with world's largest marine and aquatic animals collections, the Shedd Aquarium, built in 1929, popular among kids. You can have look at marine life such as penguins, dolphins, beluga whales, harbor seals, moray eel & quiet nurse shark. There are as many as 500 variety of tropical fish here.

Wrigley Field is synonymous with Chicago. The baseball field of the century draws visitors year round to walk the park and get a feel for the game. Just a few pictures to show baseball fans will quickly make you the object of envy.

No matter what time of the year that you visit Chicago you'll always be able to find something to do. The winter months can be a bit cold and snowy but that's what gives Chicago its charm and reputation.
