Headache And Migraine Pain Relief Through Hypnotherapy CD's

By: Alan B. Densky, CH

Even though the brain itself is insensitive to pain, some regions of the head such as the scalp, face, mouth and throat have nerve fibers that are sensitive to pain and which can ache. Headache - or cephalgia - commonly is used to describe any kind of pain that would appear in those sensitive regions of the head.

Headaches can be put into two types: Primary headaches, such as stress headache, cluster headache and migraine headache, which are not associated with any other condition; And Secondary headaches which are caused by an illness.

Headaches are the most frequent disorder of the nervous system. Everybody will suffer from headache at some point , but for 55 million people in the United States, it is a frequent thing. The World Health Organization claims that one in every 20 adult suffers from frequent headaches, with females being more exposed than males.

Headaches can be highly handicapping and are able to be detrimental to the lives of people who suffer from them. Work capacity is reduced for those people, which can be detrimental to their economic situation.

The ability to socialize is also diminished as the pain, or the fear thereof, can make people more moody. Some people who have migraine even have to always pay attention to the things they eat, the things they see, and last but not least the things they smell, as some strong or disagreeable sensations may be hurtful.

Since headaches are seen as such a banal, harmless disease, the individuals who experience them on a constant basis also have to endure the incomprehension of other people. This social barrier may also prevent people from seeking medical attention and looking for a proper treatment. However before being treated, a headache has to be "identified".

We have seen before that there are two main types of headache: Primary and Secondary, each divided in turn into numerous other subtypes. Their symptoms may vary as well as their causes and, naturally, the way they can be treated. This is why they should to be effectively identified by a physician in order to receive an adequate treatment.

Stress headache, also referred to as tension headache, is the most common type of primary headache and is the cause for about 90% of headaches. It is generally seen as related to stress or related to muscular and skeletal problems in the area of the neck.

Tension headache is usually episodic and may last from several minutes to several hours, but can sometimes last for numerous days in the most severe cases. It is commonly described as a strong steady pressure, most commonly on both sides of the head, or encircling it, sometimes also extending to the neck.

Migraine is a little bit different and is reckoned to most certainly have a genetic origin. Migraines happen when the brain releases pain causing inflammatory substances, that spread to the nerves and vessels in the head. Migraine usually happens on a monthly basis and lasts for a few hours, with other symptoms such as nausea and intolerance of regular degrees of light and sound.

Cluster headaches usually occur frequently and do not last long. They are also very painful. They occur in clusters of 6 to 12 weeks every one or two years, commonly at the same time of the year. The pain is extraordinarily intense and affects the whole head, usually starting in the eye, and then spreading to the forehead, nose and mouth. It is much less common than some other types of headache and primarily affects men.

Headaches are typically cured with over-the-counter pain relievers such as aspirin, ibuprofen or paracetamol. A doctor may also advise to avoid some common triggers like noise or certain foods.

Caffeine, Magnesium and Vitamin B2 have also shown to be effective in the treatment of migraine. Drugs however are expensive and may have undesired side effects, especially for people who have to use them on an everyday basis. This is why you may want to think about another way of avoiding the numerous types of headache.

Hypnosis and NLP (Neuro-linguistic programming) have indeed proven to be working and can help you to get rid of pain in any part of your body, including your head, as well as trying to be more relaxed meanwhile. Stress is a very common cause of headache, and adequate hypnotic techniques exist to get rid of both stress and headaches within seconds.

People who have migraine or cluster headache can often feel the first symptoms before the pain actually happens, and may learn self-hypnosis techniques to abort them before they become too painful. Therapists who understand how handicapping a headache can be have developed these therapeutic methods.

Hypnotherapy is a drug free method of treatment and will help you find the break you were looking for. Headache is a serious condition with numerous variations, concerning millions of people throughout the world. Learn to overcome it and to relax with the appeasing method of self hypnosis.
