Increasing Your Online Sales Is Easier Than You Think...

By: Jeff Bunnell

As with every business, there are good days and bad. One of the best ways to INCREASE the good days and DECREASE the bad is to really focus on increasing your online sales. Here are a few to start:

* Give your prospects extra incentives so they will order quicker. It could be free shipping, a faster shipping option, free gift wrapping, etc. More choices always will translate into more sales.

* Make your small business look big on the world wide web. Design your web site using professional graphics, ordering systems, organized layouts, etc. The online consumer doesn’t know how big/small or even how successful you are.

* Attract a lot more customers by giving them clear ordering instructions. Give them all the information they need so they can complete their order easily. Anytime you can eliminate doubt, you increase sales.

* Give your customers buying incentives so they'll make repeat purchases. Offer them discounts, free gifts, bonus points, etc. Look at Amazon as a prime example. Notice how they “tie-in” a discount if you buy additional items.

* Tell people about your site whenever you get a chance. Those people will tell other people and so on. It's a cheap way to multiply your advertising. Don’t forget to add your website to EVERY bit of correspondence you have, including personal emails. A clickable URL in an email can equal a sale.

* Write and send press releases for your web site. Use strong headlines, make it newsworthy, and tell the journalist why their readers would like it. Do this regularly. Use the big companies as examples. Target, Kmart etc all send out WEEKLY flyers in the Sunday paper.

* Use a lot of headlines on your web site and ezine. Some types of headlines are free offers, questions, problem solvers, sales, and statistics. Tie this in with your advertising & run weekly “specials”.

* Advertise your online business by dressing in clothes that are imprinted with your ad. It could be a T-shirt, ball cap, coat, etc.

Don’t go overboard. Keep the logo about the same size as your hand. T-shirts are the exception, but most Ads go on the back with a small logo on the front.

* Use reward programs to keep people revisiting your web site and buying your products. You could reward gifts or discounts for revisiting or buying. Also, many companies give away the aforementioned promotional clothing items with a large purchase (ball cap, t-shirt). Give it a try!

* Use incentives to gain referrals if you don't have an affiliate program. Tell people when they refer customers you will award them with free products.

* Stay away from overloading your web site with audio & video that load/play with your website. They can create a slow loading web page and distract people away from your offer.

* Keep people at your web site as long as possible. Allow them to download free ebooks, sign-up for contests, use free online services. Also, adding a “helpful tip” on each page will keep them clicking for more. Good Luck!
