Learn To Sell On eBay

By: Scott Douglas

Selecting what products to sell on eBay is one of the major choices you will have to make. With more than 20,000 categories and sub-categories, your choices are nearly endless.

Most eBay sellers caught “the eBay bug” the same way. In the beginning, they began hawking a few items around the home to generate a little additional money. Then, when they figured out how easy it was to convert “dust collectors” into cold hard cash in only a few days, they started selling nearly everything that they could.

This works great for a little while. Marketing disguarded belongings from your closet, or treasures that you run across at estate sales is good experience and should assist you to understand the basics of the eBay auction business. Still, you may never earn any big time income by selling these kinds of “one off” items.

The trick to earning colossal amounts of cash on eBay is to sell “cookie cutter” articles which can be resold repeatedly. Your purpose should be to find products that will sell rapidly and for a significant amount of profit. You also want to locate products which can be marketed in quantity.

Once you figure out the top selling products on eBay which bring in bids like bears to honey, the only thing you need to do is relist the items each time one sells. I like to refer to these as “cookie cutter” commodities. You just have to do the job of putting in place the eBay auction one time. Then, you only have to click one button to relist the article and continue marketing it over and over again the same way. McDonald's, Home Depot and eBay Power Sellers all use this system.

Consumable products are usually the most profitable moneymakers of all. Following the first sale, the article will be consumed and your buyer will need to purchase it again. With time, you can form a firm customer base that will buy from you again and again, producing a lifetime income stream.

Finding hot products to sell on eBay is kind of like going fishing. If you desire to catch a boatload of fish, you first need to find out where the fish are hiding and what they are biting. If you fish in a creek with no fish, or if you use unsavory bait, you'll never hook any fish. The trick to snagging all the fish you require is to cast the correct bait into a lake stuffed with hungry fish.

By the same token, you will never figure out how to become financially free using eBay if you are attempting to unload a product that is in low demand to a limited number of people. If you hope to make a truckload of money on eBay, the way is to identify a product that is in high demand and list it for auction in the right category.
