Menopause and Weight Gain

Menopause and it's associated weight gain doesn't have to be the end. It can be the beginning of a new you!
As women age they require fewer and fewer calories. With a peak requirement of 2000 calories a day at age 30(for the average woman), it slowly decreases to 1600 by age 51. No wonder we start to see extra inches around the hips and waist.

Estrogen is the culprit. Estrogen is a woman's “feel good” hormone. One of the advantages of the feel good syndrome is we burn off the calories we consume much more easily. When peri-menopause occurs we just naturally produce less estrogen and lose much of that natural ability to burn calories. So as we continue to eat the same quantities as before menopause, we gradually begin to add a pound here and a pound there. (All in MY hips, of course!)

In addition the children have flown the coop – but have you learned to cook for fewer mouths and tailored the menu to fit your needs instead of the kids needs? We're also less active. When my children were home you could often find me in the backyard practicing “my” soccer and football skills. Since I'm not what you would call the soccer or football type, since the kids have gotten older I'm not out practicing much any more – in fact never!
So here we are – post menopausal – and slowly gaining pound after pound. What to do?
Some of us can just naturally pick up the pace and maintain their pre-menopausal weight. Not me – I need help, and I discovered it in the Strip That Fat diet program.
