Pain Control Accomplished Through NLP Tapes

By: Alan B. Densky, CH

Pain is described as a disagreeable feeling ranging from mild, localized soreness to severe suffering. This experience has both physical and psychological aspects. It typically causes a lack of zest and excitement. These individuals report feeling exhausted and emotionally stressed. The pain response can impair work, home, and interpersonal relationships.

When the body is injured, it discharges signals that signal the brain that there is a problem. The brain interprets this alarm as pain, and informs the body of the injury. The person then responds to the painful signal, and tries to relieve it. Sometimes, however, the body sends a warning of pain when the body is not injured. This happens when the sensation has an emotional, rather than an actual, origin.

One way to relieve painful sensations is with medicine. Non-narcotic drugs, such as Advil or Aspirin, prevent the body from releasing messages responsible for notifying the brain of painful stimuli. Narcotic drugs, in comparison, directly connect to cells in the brain and advise them that the issue has been completely resolved. Narcotics, such as morphine and codeine, may often be very addictive and result in dependency in those who rely on them for lengthy periods as pain management tools.

The body also discharges chemicals known as endorphins. These are natural painkillers, given off by the brain's cells to fool the body into thinking that it does not ache. Athletes, for instance, release endorphins while running long distances; this is the source of the "runner's high" often discussed by those who are running enthusiasts. Those persons who enjoy taking part in strenuous exercise report the same endorphin high. Often, athletes have been able to run or play in spite of an injury due to the existence of these chemicals in their bodies.

Persons can also experience a reprieve with hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic programming approaches. Nature's own pain relief methods can allow people to obtain relief from a number of crippling conditions, including migraines and other frequent, disabling headaches or throbbing neck pain. Many people can significantly cut down on, or totally stop taking medicines through the use of these techniques.

Traditional hypnosis pain reduction methods work most effectively for persons who are open to post-hypnotic suggestions. A good hypnotist coaches the person to go into a deep state of relaxation. Then, the client is very aware of the ideas being offered by the therapist.

The hypnotherapist might ask the client to think about other activities or tasks, and that change of focus will lessen any sense of unease. Actually, just using the word discomfort in the middle of a hypnotic session versus speaking the word pain can radically decrease any perception of pain. The majority of clients report amazing outcomes, and they can be helped to practice self-hypnosis for pain relief to regain control over their personal lives.

More analytical persons usually require either an Ericksonian hypnotherapeutic approach, or an NLP approach to successfully overcome their conscious resistance to suggestion.

The hypnosis strategy for pain treatment can also be used to teach the brain to give off endorphins which can result in light anesthesia, also referred to as analgesia. This state can also be used to coach women to deliver children naturally without the use of drugs that may hurt the baby. It also helps to offer natural arthritis pain relief in chronic sufferers.

Hypnosis can also be used to induce total anesthesia in certain persons. Medical researchers call this hypnoanesthesia. In days before general anesthesia became popularly available to patients, many doctors used hypo anesthesia to perform major surgery.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is best used to help people who tend to think critically or analytically. Professionals help clients to perfect a very helpful technique utilized by NLP, known as the 'Flash'. The Flash assists clients to train their subconscious minds to automatically move away from a painful feeling, and to think about things that will offer peace and comfort. Those who have mastered this ability realize that they are no longer capable of focusing on the pain, because their minds instantly trade it for thoughts that produce comfort.

Both Neuro-Linguistic programming and hypnosis are innovations that prescribe totally natural strategies for relieving pain. They aid people to avoid using pain medication or decrease their need for these medicines. Both individuals who very suggestible and those who are critical thinkers can benefit from these types of programs. Furthermore, both have demonstrated high levels of effectiveness in assisting people to obtain a reprieve from their pain.

At present, many ways exist to receive this type of help. Experts routinely charge an average of $150.00 to $200.00 for a single hour. Any individual who has tried this treatment approach this type of therapy can honestly tell you that the expense required was definitely worth it. A more affordable treatment strategy, however may be investing in one of the highly reputable hypnosis CD courses that are available for purpose.
